CAC Leadership

    CAC Service: 2020-present. Chairman, Development Committee, 2021-present.

    Career Highlights: Military Intelligence, retired 2005, over 20 years of service on active duty, U.S. Army Reserves, and GA Army National Guard. Currently provide wealth management services and serve as the manager for other financial professionals.

Chris Dockery, '89
  • Chris Dockery: LTC, U.S. Army Reserve, Retired NGC Class of 1989, General Contractor, 1996-present, Chair, Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners, 2012-present; Class of 1989

    CAC Service: 2023-present

    Career Highlights: Retired from U.S. Army Reserve in 2017: 32 years combined service in the Georgia Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. Commanded the 124th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom 2005-2006. Served as Armor Company Commander, Detailed Inspector General, as well as various staff functions. Currently, own and manage a design/build residential construction company in Dahlonega. Serves as Chair of the Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners. Member of the Board of Managers, Association of County Commissioners of Georgia.

    Family: Married to Krista (Davis) Dockery. Three Children, Davis, UNG 2021, Lindsey and Carder.

Chris Kemp, ‘90

    Career Highlights: Six years on active duty in the U.S. Army assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (ASSLT) and 10th Mountain Division (LI). Insurance Professional since 1996 serving in the capacity of sales producer, agency manager, agency owner and now partner at Legacy Risk Solutions LLC, one of the largest insurance agencies in the country. Currently, Partner, Legacy Risk Solutions LLC., dba The Norton Agency.

Jim Cravens '78
  • Jim Cravens, MG, U.S. Army, Retired, Class of 1966

    CAC Service: 2017-present. Governance Committee 2017-2019, Vice Chairman 2019-2020, Chairman 2020-2023; Immediate Past Chairman 2023 - present.

    Career Highlights: Commissioned in Air Defense Artillery. Vietnam veteran. Retired in 1998 after 32 years of service. Key positions included CG, Ft Bliss, TX; Commandant, Air Defense Artillery School; Chief Air Defense Artillery; and Chief of Staff, Training and Doctrine Command. After 11 years retired from Lockheed Martin in 2009 as Vice President, LM Programs and President, MEADS International (tri-national program comprised of US, GE, and IT defense industry companies).

    Family: Married to Jo Beth (Maret) Cravens, NGC Class of 1965. Two children and three grandchildren.

    Career Highlights: Commissioned in Infantry. Key positions included aide-de-camp, company commander, and staff positions at battalion, brigade and corps levels. Vietnam veteran. Cobra pilot. Resigned commission in 1976. Sales and sales executive positions at IBM, Control Data, Intergraph and several smaller companies. Retired in 2012. Former President, UNG Alumni Association.

    Family: Married to Sandy (Shattuck) Melton, NGC Class of 1967. Two children, Heather (NGC Class of 1992) & Jay (NGC Class of 1996).

Carl "Skip" Bell, '67

    Career Highlights: Commissioned Armor. Two Vietnam Tours (1st Tour Armored Cavalry Platoon Leader/Troop Commander, 2nd Tour Helicopter Pilot); 14 years Active Duty, 17 years USAR. Retired in 1998 as Commander, 2125th Garrison Support Unit (Ft Bragg). Worked for TAI and SAIC (government contractors supporting the JCS and the Army Worldwide Military Command and Control System (WWMCCS)). Last 13 work years as Vice-President Administration for Universal Tax Systems (computer software in Rome, GA).

    Family: Married for 46 years to Carole (deceased). Three children, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Lee Duncan, '70
  • Lee C. Duncan: Residential Real Estate Developer; LTC, Georgia State Defense Force; Class of 1970

    Career Highlights: Residential Developer of amenity-based communities for the past 25 years. Provided strategic planning and implemented successful premier communities in the southeast to include Sea Pines Resort and Palmetto Dunes Resort (Hilton Head Is, SC), The Country Club of the South (Roswell, GA), The Manor Golf and Country Club (Milton, GA), The Cliffs at Possum Kingdom (Texas), Whitewater Creek (Fayetteville, GA), Blue Water Bay (Ft. Walton Beach, FL) among others. Currently LTC in Georgia State Defense Force. Commissioned U.S. Army upon graduation 1971; MBA Kennesaw State University (2017). Graduate of Atlanta Regional Commission Regional Leadership Institute (2006). Board member, Council for Quality Growth.

    Career Highlights: Retired from U.S. Army in 2002; 27 years of service. Global responsibilities in command and staff positions spanned from deployable combat units, complex field hospital operations, to the Pentagon. Subsequently held leadership positions within international corporations, privately owned companies, and entrepreneurial startups. Currently, committed to developing capable leaders for future generations as the founding partner for a leader development, executive coaching firm.

    Family: Married to Debi, 3 married daughters, 6 grandchildren.

    Residence: Garden Ridge, TXareer Highlights: Retired from U.S. Army in 2016; 37+ years of service. Commanded and led service members from multiple Coalition Nations through complex environments, in peacetime and in combat operations. Highlights: CDR, 10th Mountain Division and CTF 10 (Kandahar); CDR, Vth Corps and ISAF Joint Command (Kabul); CDR, 3rd U.S. Army (ARCENT) and CJTF-OIR (Iraq and Syria). Currently: Senior VP, Business Strategy, Cubic Mission Performance and Solutions.

Bob Oglesby, ‘86, Special Projects Chair
  • Bob Oglesby, CPT, US Army, Class of 1986

    CAC Service: 2022-present; Special Projects Committee Chair 2023; Special Projects Committee 2022.

    Career Highlights: Commissioned in Field Artillery, 4 years of service. Worked as Fire Support and Fire Direction Officer stationed in Germany. Spent the next twenty-five years as Field Sales Manager within the Dental Field. Made a career calling on Dental Laboratories, Dental Schools, and US Military Dental Clinics and selling specialty products to them. Achieved multiple Salesman of the year awards. Currently own a Junk Hauling franchise in the Atlanta area, our goal is to increase veteran hiring and help people who cannot help themselves.

    Family: Married to Kelli (Moore) Oglesby, NGC ’92 with two children – Caroline UNG ’17 & Thomas UNG ‘20.

Aaron Brown, ‘13

    Career Highlights: Following graduation from North Georgia, lived and worked in the Washington D.C. beltway with a role focused on fundraising and policy communications during both the 2014 and 2016 elections. Moved back to Georgia to lead a fundraising team for an economic think tank for four years. Currently is a managing consultant and team lead at a national fundraising firm—American Philanthropic—specializing in work with organizations who focus on crafting and advancing public policy.

    Family: Married to Caitlin (Chalmers) Brown, UNG class of 2014 and have two young boys.

Roger Goss, '68
  • Roger Goss: Retired SrVP & Fiduciary Advisor, Class of 1968

    CAC Service: 2023-present

    Career Highlights: Served four years active duty in U.S. Army including one tour of duty in Vietnam. After resigning my commission in June 1972, I perused a career in banking specializing in Fiduciary Management. My banking career lasted 40 years during which I managed several Trust Departments for different banks. 27 of my 40 years were spent with SunTrust Bank where I eventually managed the 8 Trust Departments of the Georgia Affiliate Banks outside Atlanta. During that time, I was responsible for $1.2 billion in trust assets. I retired from banking in August 2012. Currently I sit on the Boards of three different Foundations as Board Chair of one and Investment Chair of the other two.

    Family: Married to Joan (White) Goss. One son.

Gerald Lord, ‘61
  • Gerald Lord, Colonel, U.S. Army, Retired, NGC class of 1961

    CAC Service: 2021 – present. Governance Committee2021 – Present.

    Career Highlights: Commissioned as an Infantry Officer. Vietnam (two tours) Retired in 1991 after 30 years of service. Key assignments, commanded two companies, two battalions and a U.S. Army Garrision. Served as Professor of Military Science and Commandant of Cadets at North Georgia College from 1984 to 1988. Employed by North Georgia College in 1992 as a staff member. After 16 years, retired as Assistant Vice President of Business and Finance at North Georgia College and State University. Had the honor to serve two years as the first separate Commandant of Cadets in many years.

    Family: Married to Kay (Norton) Lord, NGC class of 1962. One son, one granddaughter and one grandson on the way.

Mark Sexton, ‘87

    Career Highlights: U.S. Army Aviator, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, West Germany/Czech Border, and Operation Desert Storm, 82nd Airborne Division, Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan. 3rd Army ARCENT, Iraqi Freedom, Iraq and Kuwait. Currently Deputy Director of the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency. Hurricanes Irma and Michael. Covid-19 response: Georgia World Congress Center Alternate Care Facility, Mercedes Benz Stadium Mass Vaccination Center.

    Family: Married to Theresa (Knieper) Sexton, NGC class of 1986. Children: Michael, Andrew, Caroline. Grandchildren: Craig, Sabrina.

Upon retirement from Army worked in health insurance, credit card servicing and processing, and military retail sales.

    Family: Married to Karen (King) Cook, NGC Class of 1977. Three daughters (Mendy, NGCSU class of 2000; Virginia, NGCSU ’03). Eight grandchildren.

Karen Frost, ‘74 Communications Chair

    Career Highlights: Retired Cobb County School District, 29 years of service. Served as classroom teacher, Gifted teacher (K-5), Instructional Lead Teacher (providing Professional Development training and Instructional support for teachers and staff), Assistant Principal and Principal. Served as Board Chair of the Women of UNG from inception, 2015-2018. Currently, working for Berry College as an Educational Leadership Coach, 2015-present, providing support for school leaders and teachers working on their Educational Leadership Specialist certification.

Jackie Sneed-Lynch, ‘89
  • Jacqueline Sneed Lynch, Marketing Sales Manager at WXTX Fox 54, Columbus, GA, NGC Class of 1989

    Career Highlights: Began my post education career in the service industry managing bars and restaurants in Columbus, GA. Then began a 22+ advertising career including radio (McClure Broadcasting), broadcasting television, cable television and digital media; holding positions from account executive to Local Sales Manager to National Sales Manager, for some of the largest media companies in the world.

    Family: Married to Tom Lynch, West Point Class of 2002. Four children, Josh 26, Ailish 18, Addison 17, Sarah 15.

John Smith, '82
  • John L. Smith: COL, U.S. Army, Retired, Class of 1982

    CAC Service: 2023-present

    Career Highlights: Served as Chief of Staff for Division West, First Army Command. Also served as a Brigade Commander in First Army, Battalion Commander, 10th Mountain Division, and Battalion Commander, First Army. Had multiple combat tours and deployments. Currently, serves as the Executive Director of Army Logistic Operations at V2X, a global DOD contractor. Manages multiple Army programs both in the US and overseas.

    Career Highlights: Retired from U.S. Army in 2015; 30 years of active-duty service, Infantry Branch. Currently drive a school bus for Gilmer County including elementary aged students and all age academic and athletic activity trips. Former Chairman of NGCCA.

Nathan Morgan, ‘91
  • Nathan Morgan, Captain, U.S. Army, NGC Class of 1991

    CAC Service: 2021-present. Governance Committee.

    Career Highlights: Commissioned in Field Artillery and served in a variety of combat arms leadership roles. Transitioned to US government civilian service in 1998 (to current) as a Special Agent responsible for leading federal investigative teams and protecting national security interests. Served in a variety of operational, intelligence and mission support roles while assigned to the White House for over thirteen years.

    Family: Married to Lisa Morgan (King), NGC Class of 1990. Two married daughters.
