 A drummer in the University of North Georgia Corps of Cadets Golden Eagle Band.

GOLDEN EAGLE BAND
Corps of Cadets

The UNG Corps of Cadets' Golden Eagle Band is the oldest student organization at UNG and is enjoying a resurgence of Cadet’s interest and participation. The purpose of this project is to purchase and prepare key items of equipment for the Golden Eagle Band including ceremonial rope drums with logo, and the Drum Major's mace and baldric.

GOAL: $16,000

BLUE RIDGE SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Blue Ridge Campus

Promotion of scholarship funds for the Blue Ridge Scholars program. Funds will provide $500 scholarships to 5 Blue Ridge Scholars.

GOAL: $2,500

NIGHTHAWKS SOAR
Oconee Campus

Nighthawks SOAR (Student Opportunities for Accelerated Readiness) will consist of a three week program in June 2019 that will reinforce English, math and science skills for economically disadvantaged, ESOL, and future first generation college students in middle grades from counties that the Oconee campus serves. Funds will be used to offset the costs of hiring certified teachers, transportation and lunch for the students served by the program.

 Center of cybersecurity for Mike Cottrell College of Business

PROJECT ARES CYBERSECURITY TRAINING PLATFORM
Mike Cottrell College of Business

Funds will be used to establish and fund annual license fees for Project ARES Cybersecurity Virtual Training Platform that is designed to prepare competition teams in for national Capture-the-Flag competitions across cyber, network, forensics and reverse engineering challenges, including Critical Infrastructure Systems/SCADA (public utility control systems). Can also be used hands-on learning in the classroom for cyber courses.

GOAL: $11,700

 A class on entrepreneurship & innovation.

CENTER FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP & INNOVATION
Mike Cottrell College of Business

Students have innovations with near-term potential for commercialization, but are caught in the gap between startup and scale, unable to move forward due to lack of funding. An Early Stage Proof-Of-Concept Fund will support advancement of products and services with near-term potential for licensing and commercialization covering costs for market and feasibility studies, customer discovery, prototyping, and protection of intellectual property.

GOAL: $10,000

INTERNATIONAL DEBATE INITIATIVE
College of Arts & Letters

The project is entitled "International Debate Initiative" and the funds would be used to pay for registration and travel expenses for students competing abroad at the world championships in English and Spanish debate, as well as for qualifying events. The project enhances UNG's stated mission "to develop students into leaders for a diverse and global society." Students would then share their experiences with others though on-campus programming.

OCONEE SCHOOL OUTREACH SPEECH TOURNAMENT
College of Arts & Letters

The UNG Oconee School Outreach Speech Tournament is a one-day competition scheduled for Saturday, March 30, 2019. Middle and high school aged students from Athens-Clarke and Oconee counties will compete for prizes in one of three areas of oration: extemporaneous, dramatic interpretation, and impromptu speaking. Events will be in both English and Spanish. UNG students develop and manage the event from start to finish.

GOAL: $5,500

 Athletics Study Room

NIGHTHAWK STUDY SPACE
Nighthawk Athletics

The UNG Athletic Department seeks to create the “Nighthawk Study Space” in Memorial Hall. The re-purposed space will include individual study space, group space and computers to optimize student-athlete academic performance both individually and collaboratively. The space will include the necessary technology to track study hall and tutoring sessions while providing an area where academic support will be readily available for all student-athletes.

GOAL: $5,000

4th ANNUAL GEORGIA FILM FESTIVAL
Gainesville Campus

Our project will help fund the 4th annual Georgia Film Festival, an event on the Gainesville campus that promotes UNG student and faculty films, showcases film and TV content made by Georgia filmmakers, and brings film professionals onto campus for panels, workshops, and networking. We seek to raise the profile of and attendance at the event by hosting a well-known filmmaker or actor for a featured event as well as increasing our marketing and promotional efforts.

RISE UP
College of Education

RISE UP is a partnership between UNG's College of Education and Hall County Schools. Graduates from Hall County Schools, who are Native Speakers of Spanish and who want to become teachers, are provided with jobs within schools as paraprofessionals while attending UNG. Students are also provided with financial assistance, academic support and service opportunities. Assistance is needed for cost of program supplies, tuition and certification.

GOAL: $12,000

IDEA 4REHAB
College of Health Sciences

IDEA 4Rehab allows Doctorate in Physical Therapy students the opportunity to create and develop adaptive medical devices aimed at building innovative assistive technology for clients with physical disabilities. This opportunity opens new realms of experience for students while providing an invaluable service to community members.
Funding is needed for materials and program supplies.

GOAL: $3,000

 College of Science and Mathematics students go scuba diving while studying abroad.

STUDENT CONFERENCE TRAVEL AND STUDY ABROAD
College of Science and Mathematics

UNG students experience annual field study and research opportunities through study abroad courses in ecology in South Africa, Belize and Costa Rica. College of Science and Mathematics students travel to regional and national conferences to present their research publications.  These programs expose students to new environments and cultures while challenging them to apply their learning beyond the classroom. Funds will support travel costs that range from $500 to $5,000 per student.
